TopSpot E Microarrayer

TopSpot E is a semi-automated entry level arrayer designed
for individual research projects and assay development.
Superior results are obtained in printing microarrays of
proteins and nucleic acids. |
 |
The core
of TopSpot technology is the micromachined print head. This
print head allows for 24 or 96 different liquid samples to
be loaded into separate reservoirs. The reservoirs are
spaced at standard 384 or 1536 microtiter plate format
facilitating easy filling by hand or automated pipetters.
Once loaded, hundreds of prints can be made without
reloading. Loaded samples are dispensed simultaneously at a
pitch of 500 µm with a frequency of about 1 array per
second. All print heads are reusable and easy to clean. |
|
The
TopSpot E holds and positions the print head under a piezo
actuator. The slide to be printed is placed on a
motor-driven holder which automatically locates the slide
immediately beneath the print head. All printing steps are
controlled and tracked by a user friendly program, connected
via USB port. The TopSpot E system includes a 24 channel
print head, a print head cleaning station, control software
and accessories. The low cost, compact size and ease of use
make TopSpot E an ideal choice for individual labs. |

TopSpot Technology
Parallabs offers a unique combination of microfluidic
and piezo technologies in the TopSpot/E system.
The microfluidic print head is composed of 3
layers. The glass upper reservoir layer is fixed to the
silicon fluid channel layer. The channels are of
identical length and volume capacity. They connect the
reservoirs with the glass print nozzles precisely
machined into the lower layer.

TopSpot Applications
Printing Protein Microarrays
TopSpot is a unique tool for printing protein
microarrays. No pins means no interaction with grooved
steel and no impact on coated slides. Zero
cross-contamination, zero carryover. Excellent
reproducibility.
